Adjoa addresses Mole 34 WASH Conference

The reigning Child Sanitation Diplomat, Miss Adjoa Gyarkoa Appiah-Kubi, has re-echoed children’s call on adults to refrain from open defecation to set a good example for them to follow. She said this on 30th October 2023 while delivering a solidarity message on behalf of Ghanaian children at the 34th edition of the Mole Water and Sanitation Conference Series at Jirapa in the Upper West Region.

The forum was Adjoa’s first public appearance since she won the School Sanitation Solutions Challenge in August to become a Child Sanitation Diplomat. The challenge is organized annually by World Vision Ghana and Kings Hall Media with the objective of raising a sanitation-conscious future generation.

She seized the opportunity to salute her predecessor Child Sanitation Diplomats for setting the pace for Ghanaian children to voice out their concerns and share their opinions on sanitation and the environment.

She praised CONIWAS for adopting a suggestion that her immediate predecessor, Maame Akua Ohenewaa Gyimah, made at the previous year’s edition of the conference that there should be a session for children. “Tomorrow, I will be facilitating a session with children at part of this conference,” she said.

Adjoa is the 4th Child Sanitation Diplomat after Neriah Tettey, Mawadadu Naziru, and Maame Akua Ohenewaa Gyimah. As part of her one-year sanitation campaign, Adjoa will be paying high-profile visits to traditional and political authorities for advocacy, school outreaches for peer-sensitization, and study tours as part of her mentorship.

The Mole Conference Series, organized by Civil Society through the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation, is the largest and longest-serving WASH sector annual forum for advocacy and sector learning in Ghana.
